Working Caregivers

Everyday 22 million Americans are caring for elderly parents and other loved ones, many have to provide this care from a thousand miles away.

Approximately 30% of these caregivers have missed work as a result of caring for a parent.

Each time one of your employees is absent from the workplace to take care of their elderly parent or loved one your business suffers. This will be an ongoing problem as the elderly population increases.

I recently met with an employer that stated during their busiest time of the year eight of their key employees were out several days to weeks assisting their elderly parents. Aging Wisely could have decreased the days missed by providing the employees with the proper information and services to assist their parents.

It often becomes the responsibility of the adult children to secure the appropriate care for their parent. It is difficult to know the right thing to do, who to contact, and what services to utilize. Proper planning takes care of some of those issues, however, when a crisis strikes receiving immediate assistance helps make the situation less stressful and allows the family to focus on what is important.

For example, your employee gets a call at work that something has happened to their mother and she has had to be hospitalized. Aging Wisely can assist your employee through the process by advising the employee on all of the issues that need to be evaluated, answering questions regarding options available, and providing specific recommendations as to how to proceed in the newly found role as "caregiver."

Educational Programs

Aging Wisely can help your employees prepare for the future by providing educational seminars and individual consultation regarding elderly issues.

The educational seminars we offer provide information that your employees need to assist their loved ones and to make informed decisions. Seminars focus on legal and financial issues, health and medical issues, exercise and fitness, nutrition, insurance and public benefits, preservation of dignity, community service options, housing options and other issues that effect the elderly population. A question and answer period is part of every presentation.

Consultation

Individual consultations with an Aging Wisely consultant can be scheduled at your workplace. This provides your employee with the opportunity to meet with us privately regarding their personal situation. Each consultation includes a comprehensive written assessment along with a personalized care plan, recommendations, and plan of action.

Aging Wisely utilizes a multi-disciplinary team approach, we can recommend and refer you to the community services and professionals you may need to solve your problems. Aging Wisely maintains a comprehensive database of service providers available in the community, and around the United States. Memberships with national and local organizations enable us to make competent referrals.
